Salad Mixes

We offer a few different salad mixes throughout the spring and summer, mainly sticking to our “Lettuce Salad Mix” and our “Spicy Salad Mix,” with occasional deviations including baby kale mixes and arugula mixes. Our Lettuce Salad mix is a nice hearty mix of cut green and red lettuce leaves. With ample crunch and sturdy leaves, this is a great base for a ceasar salad or the perfect topping for burgers and sandwiches. Alternatively, our “Spicy Mix” is very tender and delicate, and not that spicy. A mix of Asian greens including tokyo bekana, mizuna, tatsoi, and baby red mustard leaves (for a bit of radishy spice), this can be used for salads, stir fries, atop pizzas, in wraps, or however you might otherwise use tender greens.

Storage Tips

Our bagged loose leaf salad mixes are almost always washed and ready to go in the fridge (or right into your salad bowl). Do not put greens in a sealed bag or container (they’ll get slimy), but make sure they are not able to lose too much moisture (they’ll wilt). A minimally perforated bag or container that doesn’t have a tight seal work best. If your greens already appear to be a little wilty after their day of travel, rinse them with cool water, pat dry, and store with a towel or paper towel in a (again, slightly breathable) container in the fridge. It’s best to wait to wash greens until right before you use them, unless they are already wilting. Our salad can be very perishable, especially during a wet spring or intense summer heat. Plan to eat your greens the day you pick up your box or the very next day!
