Frequently asked questions

Q: What advantages does a CSA offer that the Farmer’s Market doesn’t?
A: CSA members are our first priority. They receive many items that are not at out Farmer’s Market booth, like raspberries and pumpkins, and they don’t have to be at market at 7 AM to get the best of everything else. Our customers tell us that they enjoy the convenience of the pre-packed boxes, and creative recipe ideas and farm updates in the newsletter. They also report that the program encourages them to make new discoveries in vegetables and serving suggestions.

Q: Can I specify what items I do and don’t want in my box?
A: As much as we’d like to, we cannot tailor boxes to suit every member’s needs. The boxes simply contain what is in season. Though, many drop sites have a trade box where members place items they won't use, or take out items other members left.

Q: What if I’m away on vacation and miss a box?
A: If you’re going away we recommend that you share your box with family or friends. Simply have that person pick up your box for you, though make sure they know where to go, and how to pick it up. If you don't have friends or family who are interested in the produce, let us know and we can donate the share you'll miss to our local food shelf.

Q: What if I want to join but can’t use a whole box?
A: Several of our members have split shares between two families. We make up a whole box, and it is up to the members to decide how it is divided. Many of our members who split a full share with another family alternate weeks instead of splitting the box weekly. One week the first family picks up the full share, the next week the second family. That way they don't have to figure out how to split up the box, they can simply enjoy a full share every other week.
